Becoming a 4.5 Tennis Player

Background

I have never really played tennis before. Sure I tried it out as a kid, which ended after about 10 minutes of sending balls skying over the backstop, then of course there was gym, where I tried to smash the ball and play as little as possible. No I really was never into tennis at all.

Then I began dating a girl for which tennis was her life, literally. She played tennis everyday, several hours, year round. I managed to resist most offers to learn, playing about twice a year for the first years we dated but this last year, after living together, I caved. She would really like it if I was able to even rally or play a few games with her (maybe even a few doubles tournaments) so I decided to give it a shot.

We now play once or twice a week and I am slowly improving my game. I picked becoming a 4.5 tennis player, which I am told is a decent player who has all the tennis strokes down and would be able to hold his own against his girlfriend. Maybe not win a set, but hold his own. Therefor I will try and become a 4.5 so we can have some enjoyable matches in the future.
